The Merkos School is an Italian Jewish and private educational institute that, within a strictly Jewish context, develops a dialogue between Italian culture and observant Judaism, harmonizing the educational environment through the search for common points, with the aim of forming humanely and religiously balanced citizens, following the inspiration of the biblical saying:
«Educate the child according to his inclination, even when he grows old, he will not abandon it.»
(Prov. 22-6).
The Institute includes a Nursery School affiliated with the Municipality of Milan and the following private school levels: Nursery School, Primary School and a Lower Secondary School, which follow the national guidelines of the Ministry of Education and issue the same qualifications as Italian public schools. The Merkos School also includes the Joe Nahmad High School, whose Bagrut project (link to the Bagrut project), launched experimentally in 2011, was recognized in April 2014 by the Israeli Ministry of Education. The agreement formally recognizes the possibility for students to take the Bagrut exams at the Merkos School in Milan and to obtain the Israeli high school diploma in Italy.
